ADDITIONAL EXPERTISE
LEED®
PENTA Engineering is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council. (USGBC) The USGBC has developed the LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System, a voluntary standard for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings.
INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS
The LEED rating system was initially developed to be applied to commercial office buildings and has since been expanded to cover many types of buildings including schools, healthcare, retail and laboratories. There has not been a LEED standard developed for industrial applications.
PENTA has experience applying the LEED for new construction (LEED-NC) rating system to projects typical to an industrial setting. Applying this rating system to an industrial project requires in-depth analysis and adaptation of the credits to fit the qualities of an industrial project within the existing rating system.
EXPERIENCE
PENTA’s application experience includes manufacturing facilities, distribution centers, employee washrooms, plant administrative offices and international projects.
SERVICES OFFERED
PENTA Engineering will designate a LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP) as the LEED consultant and contact person who will first review the project details to determine the feasibility of LEED Certification for the project. Next, a meeting with the project team will be held to identify the LEED goals and strategy by evaluating each LEED prerequisite and credit. PENTA Engineering will then manage and document the LEED requirements of the project from the design phase through the construction phase and LEED submission to the USGBC.
In addition to providing multi-discipline engineering design services and LEED consulting, PENTA Engineering can provide energy modeling to assist in creating an efficient building envelope and systems design and to provide life cycle cost analysis. PENTA’s energy modeling documentation is appropriate for submittal to the USGBC for LEED certification.
